This Balboa Island Christmas series was photographed across a single,
unforgettable day. The sunset over Newport Harbor was the kind that stops conversation. Deep color, calm water, and a perfectly framed view toward the Balboa Pavilion as the light faded into blue hour.
The centerpiece of the series is this home. Fully blinged out. Meticulously decorated. A true labor of love. It went on to win first place in the Balboa Island Christmas decorations, and standing there, it was obvious why.
A few days later, I returned to the same spot to watch the Newport Christmas Boat Parade. From this house, it felt like the front row of a theater. Boats gliding past, reflections dancing on the water, and the drone show overhead sealing the moment.
Balboa Island is one of those rare places that feels separate from everything else. Walkable. Intimate. Timeless. It is its own little world, and being there during the holidays is something I never take for granted.
Because photos like these deserve to live on walls, not phones.
